I'm investigating replacing one of my conventional yagi's with a loop yagi for a distant 800mhz system.

Advantages seem to be full wavelength elements, vs 1/2 wave, and a bit more frequency spread. Basically they are a modified quad.

Comments from those that have used them ?

Everything I understand about loop yagi's indicates that the biggest advantage to them is that construction techniques are easier and more practical at the higher frequencies than a conventional yagi. Any bandwidth advantage is probably of no concern at 800 MHz, since a conventional yagi provides reasonable gain flatness over the portions of the band you'd be interested in.

Short answer, I doubt you'd get any advantage over a yagi of similar size.
