Hello all,
I have a scantenna antenna that is in need of repair. My antenna works great, however the wind today crippled the elements and now it is not picking up like it did. I was thinking of taking some heavy fence wire and twisting at least 3 wires together to the correct lengths for each of the elements and bolt the wires together and then hooking them back up the matching network. I made a 1/4 wave antenna for 146mhz and it works great with my FT7800. Just wondering if I take out the hollow elements that are there now and replace it with fence wire it should be much stronger and the wind shouldn't mess it up again. What do you guys think about this?

Thanks,
Joey
