Ok, so i am needing a primarily vhf.uhf antenna, but also one capable of reeling in some 800mhz, and everyone has reccommended the larsne 2/70b(hopefully thats the model) but my beef with that is, its height, that would a monstrasity on my honda roof, so without sacrificing quality, any suggestiions on a smaller unit to go with, perhaps another brand that will have great performance also?

The dual band Larsen 2/70B is indeed about 33". The tri band larsen 150/450/800 is over a foot shorter (around 17"). Larsen also makes a "short" dual band 2/70 (2/70SH) that's about 19".

I have two of the 2/70 antennas (one with the open coil, one with the enclosed coil) and the 150/450/800. For scanning, I recommend the tri-band since it's much more "garage friendly".

Both are in this doucment from Larsen http://www.larsen-antennas.com/docfiles/ASB8/Mobile/MultiBandVHFUHF.pdf (the tri-band is the last one listed).

yea, i really like the one on page 103 of the larsen site, MAKro blend and kulrod whip, and 16.5 is a good height, it will serve as my bc350c antenna for when i mount it in my car.
