Check your frequency. If this is a 9600 baud system frequency error gets to be a large culprit. You can get away with five to six hundred Hertz off frequency but any more than that things fall apart....

Yes, not Auto dial but store and forward. With the keypad turned on, you could enter a string as I described above with a leading star and it will accept it with modified firmware in the x180 series.

Not TDMA. I can't explain exactly here now but when the control channel changes to a traffic channel, radios in the field know that the channel is in use and will stay affiliated to the site.

Any channel in a site that is a control channel can be programmed as a composite to act as a voice channel when needed. No :roll.... it does work but it's better for a dedicated control with traffic...
