Default Can anyone tell me why I got this ticket

So I was driving home from work the other day, and this police car pulls out right infront of me and I nearly hit him. He wasn't going to pull over anyone either and I had to get on the other side of the road so I wouldn't hit him. I honked my horn right when it happened. I almost got in accident with another car. He pulled me over for being on the wrong side of the road. I only went on the other side to avoid hitting his car. I think the real reason he was mad was that I honked at him. He wrote me up for this too. And I told him I would be seeing him in court. Just because they are the police, they don't have the right to drive reckless and speed. He wasn't responding to anything either. What does everyone think?

Nobody can tell you why you got this ticket based on your one-sided summary of the story.

They pull us over for things like texting while driving, which I agree no one should do. However I was driving next to an officer once and she was filing her nails while she was driving. .... Ridiculous

Fight the ticket in court. 9 out of 10 times the officer doesn't show up and the ticket is dismissed. If he does show up, you can ask him, respectfully, why he wrote you the ticket.

A moderator moved your post because it was in the wrong forum,

As to your original question, only the judge's opinion counts. Cops are not always right...that is why we have courts. (I bet he doesn't even show up).

Here's my story: I got my first ticket for a moving violation after 21 years of clean driving. The state police officer cited me for a variety of offenses, as well as speeding (which, admittedly, I was probably doing). Grand total: $480. I didn't threaten to see him in court, but just took the ticket, knowing that I was going to contest it.

6 months later I had my hearing, and the ticketing officer wasn't there. Didn't matter, though; the magistrate and a different state police officer were. After hearing my case against the offenses, they knocked off $280 (the fines for the other offenses), but I still had to pay $200 for speeding. Just b/c the officer isn't present doesn't necessarily mean the ticket will be thrown out...

Last thing you want to tell a cop after receiving a ticket is "I'll see ya in court". Ask the cop where and when you can pay the ticket/fine. That way he thinks your just going to pay and not go to court. Then show up to court and fight, and the cop probably won't be there.

Have you ever seen the cops copy of the ticket you received? Many cops write specifics about the traffic stop like; were you courteous? Did you lie to him? Etc.

Cops do some dumb things from time to time. I watched a sheriff fly through a 4-way stop intersection going at least 50mph without his light and sirens on. He was so careless, I called the sheriff on him and started to follow him. 2 miles down the road, going even faster, he clipped the rear of a brand new white corvette and lost control and launched his car 2 feet into a telephone pole. Snapped it right in half. He was responding to a cold burglary call that happened days ago.

Maybe just maybe you did something wrong, why is it always the cops fault? One now has to wonder with all your begging for live feeds to be put up in your area if maybe you are up to no good

Here is My Opinion,

So I was driving home from work the other day, and this police car pulls
out right infront of me and I nearly hit him.

He wasn't going to pull over anyone either ""How do you know
are you a mind reader?""

[/B]
and I had to get on the other side of the road so I wouldn't hit him.
""Do not cross the double yellow lines.""

I honked my horn right when it happened."" Do Not Lay on the Horn to a Cop""

I almost got in accident with another car. ""Know your surrondings, slow down""

He pulled me over for being on the wrong side of the road.
I only went on the other side to avoid hitting his car. ""Not an Excuse""

I think the real reason he was mad was that I honked at him.
He wrote me up for this too. "" You got One right""

And I told him I would be seeing him in court. "" Do Not mouth off to a Cop,
All you need to say is...YES SIR or NO SIR and Yes, you can go to Court and
lose a Day's Pay unless you use a sick day""

Just because they are the police, they don't have the right to
drive reckless and speed. "" Unless they are responding to a Breaking and
Entering Call at your Mother's house.""

He wasn't responding to anything either. ""Did the Officer actually say
that to you?""

What does everyone think?

Your attitude and big mouth got you a ticket, be polite and act like you do
when you visit Grandma. Pay your fine like a Man and don't cry about it,
You don't have to Hate the Police just cause you got a ticket.

I did that once in Richmond, Texas. I was heading eastbound on 90A. All of the sudden, a deputy pulls in front of me from a place where he should have yielded. I honked. He pulled me over as well.

When I got out, he kept asking me, "are you going to an emergency?" After answering "no" several times, he then quipped, "you don't like law enforcement do you?" I said, "yes, I do, officer, sir." I think he could sense the sarcasm in my voice. What I meant to say is there are cops and pigs, but I held my tongue. I told him the honk was initiated because he pulled out in front of me.

The whole time we were standing by the side of the road discussing this matter, he was playing with the leather guard over the trigger on his holstered gun. I did not get ticketed though.

Sorry for your bad luck, but I too would fight it.

Default SouthSoundScanner's post makes sense.

But there are those who just don't like the cops or others in authority, and will not say sir, thank you, or have a good day. I know quite a few cops, they are good people who some times have bad days just like us. Think what it would be like if we didn't have them out there.

Sadly, personal responsibility is a trait lacking in far too many people in our culture these days. It's much easier to push blame off onto someone else, especially authority figures.

Obviously it was the cop's fault, he hates you and is out to get you, duh. He probably planted a device in your car that honked the horn so he had probable cause to pull you over!

that's a myth.

cops get paid overtime to come to court (if its on their day off). would you pass up time and a half?

plus they can get into trouble for not showing up for a subpoena. same as any other person.
