Default Weather Radio TV Commercials?

Why don't weather radio companies put commercials on TV for their product? Is it too expensive?

Car companies spend big money on commercials because they want you to buy a $30,000 car... WxRadios make their manufactures about $10 -- and commercials aren't going to help convince Joe Public to buy them -- so why try? Do you see smoke detector commercials? Yet they are proven to save your life more than a NWR...

The local CBS affiliate is constantly pushing the sales of weather radios... they have partnered up with Hy-Vee for residents to buy them at their nearest grocery store. Commercials play during the news all the time, especially in the spring.

After the Parkersburg EF-5, they actually went completely out of stock of weather radios because they really talked about how the weather radios gave residents enough notice before the tornado hit Parkersburg.

The station also gives out coupons for the weather radios and on some days in the spring, they will program the SAME code into your radio for no charge.

Yea...I was kind of figuring what everyone said...and how the local station urges the need for them.
