Default Two Way Radio and 1050 Alert Tone

Can you program a two tone squential decoding radio with the NWS 1050 tone and have it alert you. Has anyone tried this?

Bob

Yes, I do it with my Kenwood TK-250. It works well. I put in 1050 as both A and B tones, but I think you can also put 1050 in as a group/all call tone and it will still work.

IIRC, I setup tone A and tone B to 1050hz.

I set up my kenwood to a single "long tone"

now if I can only figure out how to mute the audio until it gets the alert...

IIRC, there is a section on the right side for the channel, Tone 1-1(or 1-2 or 1-3) must be selected.

This can be done with a Minitor pager as well.

As for keeping the radio muted until the signal is decoded, there should be a squelch or unmuting setting somewhere where you select the "and" setting instead of the "or" setting. Basically, the radio will look for BOTH the subaudible (PL) tone AND the two-tone before the radio unmutes. If the channel is set for CSQ, it will just look for the two-tone.
