I'm having an APRS chat /w KE4NYV now (He has since moved back to Va. Beach). Jason says he lost the site for his 900 machine before he could get it it on the air. WD4KZK 927.6 PL 107.2 was on the air from Slings Gap when he left. Note: the was a plan to change his offset from -12MHz to -25MHz; Jason doesn't know whether that has been done yet. It appears the Repeater Journal still lists as -12. Worth a try on either offset.

Bedford/Apple Orchard Mtn WA1ZMS 921.1 PL 100.0 may be QRV. There are also a 2m and 220 repeater under the same call at that site that are QRV.

Jason says the 900 scene in Roanoke was dead when he moved. Good luck!

I did'nt mean to rain on your parade, but we were trying to get 900 going when I was there and we just could'nt do it. getting equipment and then putting on the air was just too much for the appliance operators in Roanoke. The few of us that had the time and skill to do it eventually gave up and moved on to other projects or just moved on. I came back to Virginia Beach hauling the repeater, controller and duplexers with me. Did that one more time and then sold everything off.

I'm in Blacksburg/C'burg and just now getting my 900 station setup. I'm wondering if anything's changed in the last 9 years!

Regarding the 900 Repeaters in the Lynchburg area...

921.000 (100.0 Hz) is actually up on Tobacco Row Mountain in Amherst County, co-sited with the 444.500 Repeater (136.5 Hz). This repeater is owned by the Lynchburg ARC.

The 921.100 (100.0 Hz) is up on Apple Orchard Mountain (4200 feet above sea level), on the Blue Ridge Parkway, next to the FAA Radar "ball". It belongs to Brian Justin (WA1ZMS/4). It is co-sited with his other beacons and repeaters:

146.685.....-0.600....100.0 Hz in/out
224.180.....-1.600....100.0 Hz in/out
444.650.....+5.000....100.0 Hz in/out
443.800.....+5.000....DMR
1283.100....-12.000....100.0 Hz in/out
2411.600....-30.000....100.0 Hz in/out

The 224.180, 444.650, 921.100, 1283.100 & 2411.600 are all linked together. The number of courtesy beeps indicates which band you are transmitting on:

224.100 1-beep
444.650 2-beeps
921.100 3-beeps
1283.100 4-beeps
2411.600 5-beeps

Brian also has a three of beacons up there, VUCC Grid Square FM07fm:

70.005....ID: WE9XFT....7 KW ERP aimed 60 deg.
(This beacon is on the 4 Meter Amateur Band, is currently licensed under a FCC Part-5 Experimental License, and is regularly heard in Europe & UK.)

144.285....ID: WA1ZMS....7 KW ERP aimed 60 deg.

903.055....ID: WA1ZMS....100W to Turnstile
