According to the FCC database, it appears they are adding a couple of frequencies and changing the contact information on their license. The application shows Radio Communications Specialist as their licensing administrator instead of the former acting police chief. Haven't had a chance to check whether there is any traffic on the new frequencies: 151.145 & 151.46

Im not familiar with that system. Can it be integrated with APCO? I'm wondering about the possibility of eventually connecting with Joplin PD. I'm assuming not. You would think that all the departments in the county would try to integrate with each other. I guess that makes too much sense.

Nope it is not interoperable with Joplin, Joplin system is an APCO P-25 Trunking system that is non proprietary. Meaning any manufacturer can make compatible equipment to use it. One of the reasons for P-25 that it is non proprietary.

Kenwoods Nextedge is proprietary meaning only Kenwood equipment can be used. Thus it is not not avaliable in any scanners that i know of.

Im surprised that other public saftey users around the area have not asked Joplin to use the system, as it can have multiple sites hooked to it, different band sites even, such as VHF, UHF or 700. They are doing this sort of thing in Texas and other places around the country. As the site is much much cheaper than the part that controls the sites.

I know that they offered up access to the old 800 trunk system when they implemented that but no one took advantage. It's like the go out of there way to be different. The state of Kansas has a nice system. Wish they would do something similar here. I'm sure eventually that they will.

I assume you mean Webb City when you say.

No, not at all. I was speaking of all the agencies as a whole. A county of 100k and all the agencies are on different radio systems. It would be nice that it was on one system and the departments used there own talk groups.

I agree, maybe some day they will come aboard Joplins system. I think alot of people are misinformed on it and/or don't know what there system is really capable of. Maybe if or when the state was to hook into it, that will change.

Most of the agencies in Jasper County seem to think they need to be on their own systems, not just Webb City. Recently Jasper County Sheriff Archie Dunn decided that his department no longer needed to be dispatched by Jasper County Central 911. He justified the change stating something to the effect that by having their own radio system, the Sheriff's Department could more readily communicate with other agencies. I always thought that was one advantage of having a centralized dispatch. As it stands now, since the change, if there is a medical call in the county, JasCo 911 has to call the Sheriff's Dispatch and relay the information, where as before they could communicate directly with the deputies. I guess so much for progress!

I know icom IDAS is roughly the same, what are the others you speak of?

Roughly? In conventional it works together seamlessly. In trunking, it is like TRBO, nothing plays well together.

I can't remember who else is doing IDAS, or NXDN compatable in the US, I could be wrong on that one.

Hearing radio testing "in the clear" on Webb City's frequency (155.550). Is it possible that they are abandoning the proprietary system?

Im only hearing data right now. I may kick up DSD and see if they are still using NXDN.
