Is that the only control channel so far? The system is still going to be P25, so no band plan is needed, right?

If anyone is closer than me and can put one of the software programs on this system & see what is showing up as actual channels being mapped to the system (before I go back in & add the 500 MHz frequencies), I'd greatly appreciate it!

Which six were formally given back? I missed them -- I scanned through their trunked licenses this afternoon and saw no recent activity on the original two which granted the fifteen TV-20 (506-507 MHz) pairs. Also noticed that the six new TV-16 and the two recycled TV-15 channels are (currently) only authorized for four of the eight sites which the TV-20 channels were authorized for. I wonder if they plan on recycling the remaining three TV-14/15 conventional channels currently in use...

Scott, I can't receive it from home but I'll try to get to that area with Unitrunker for a few hours in the next week or so, will submit what I find if any different than currently listed in the database.

Thanks - I was able to slightly receive them last night - made for some strange base & offset settings that were populating the tables in my 396XT...

if you read the letter they sent requesting the 483-484 freq s they say there going to give back tv 20 freq s and this will be done when they complete the retuning to tv 16 so i guess we will have to wait to be sure what they are really keeping on the system Jim may be right they have plenty of 470 mhz channels to fill the void of the TV 20 channels although there's no license to confirm this

On Unitrunker click on receivers then in the receiver section put type to inline, model to Pro107,role to signal then in the control section select the serial port. tune to the active control channel. these settings should work.

During a quick visit to the Edison area this morning I gathered some updated info on the system. I just submitted an update to the database but here's an overview with some commentary.

Active control channel was 484.9875, as previously reported. Alternate control channels are 484.3625, 484.6125, and 484.8625. 483.8625 was in use as a voice channel, techs were apparently conducting fidelity testing on TGID 2001. I was getting a continuous digital stream on 484.1125, it sounded like a control channel but wasn't decoding as one and I'm not even sure that it was originating from Woodbridge.

The control channel is pushing tables for the following frequency ranges: 450-469, 470-499, 500-512, although the configuration of the 450-469 table seemed to be off (it was showing a Tx offset of +3 when it should be +5, but that may have been a glitch on my end). Earlier in the year the only table was 500-512, and as long as that table is being transmitted then it's theoretically possible that the 506-507 channels are still in the mix.

After 478.5625 and 478.7375, which were recently issued in a trunked license, there are only a few other existing 47# channels which Woodbridge might migrate to the trunked system. Many of their channels in that range are for mobiles-only and I expect they would face a battle to get repeaters licensed on them. With that 450 table entry, though, I'm wondering if they're planning on bringing 453.2 & 453.225 into the trunked system.

So here's how you monitor the system. Set it up as P25 Auto and put in those four control channels; if you scanner has Control Channel Only Mode then make sure it is turned on. If you have a Pro-96/2096 then you should use software to enter a custom multi-table, look for that data to appear in the database from my update. If you don't have software then you can enter just the table entry for Base=470 through the keypad but you may miss some comms when the system expands down the road.

Scott, since Woodbridge committed to returning those 506-507 channels upon final system configuration, and since there's no indication they're presently in use, and since the system can be monitored without programming them in, I'd suggest you not bother putting them back into the database.

Thanks Jim - the total amount of frequencies they originally had @ 500MHz was immense, more than Somerset County's TRS if I remember correctly.

If they kept all of those old ones, they could have created a system that easily could sustain half of the county's needs! I'm still in awe that they got 480MHz channels, being that close to NYC...

as Jim reported i am also getting a data stream on 484.1125 in north end of Rahway which sounds like a control channel but it will not decode maybe its a MDT stream techs were doing grid test all day today and last Friday, it looks like 2001 & 2002 maybe WPD ch1 & 2, Tg 2013 Detectives Encrypted
also heard tg 3001 comms sounded like it could be fire ch 1
