Are there any over-the-air railroad company communications any more? In this era of cell phones, computers and other personal forms of communication, I just wonder if train officials still might use two-way radio contact particularly in Southwest Ohio? Thanks for any information, frequencies used, etc.

For the Cincinnati area use the link "fxdscon" posted and look for:

CSX - Louisville Division
NS - Lake Division
Indiana & Ohio

Rail frequencies are quite busy in the Cincinnati area.

If you program in the correct frequencies for the Cincy area, I'm sure your scanner will have lots of chatter. There are several mainlines that run thru there as well as a good sized rail yard.

Agree with the others, much chatter on the railroad channels. In the NW Ohio area Channels 08,12, 35, 46, 50, 64, 74, 76, 84, 94 are all particularly busy channels. Or there are several railroad audio feeds available to listen to as well.
