What is "PAR" When I've been monitoring working structure fires in the city, the IC will stop all comms and ask each group working the fire if they have "PAR". I assume this is a safety check. Am I correct?

Correct. PAR stands for personnel accountability report. It's done to make sure all firefighters are accounted for, and no one is injured or missing.

PAR is a "personnel accountability report". It is a check to make sure all firefighters are accounted for.

A little background: dispatch will usually remind the IC at 20 minute intervals for a PAR check (this is especially true with the VECC dispatchers). Also, IC may call for a PAR at any time he/she feels it necessary.
