Random constant static on channel

On occasion I get random constant ear splitting static on a channel. It is constant for a long while. I have tried reprogramming my BCD 996xt and that did not solve it. Id say its about 5% of the time (give or take). Anyone have any ideas? Encryption? Programming?

What are you calling "static"? Are you monitoring (or trying to monitor) at digital system or is it analog? If it's an analog system, check your squelch.

Its not squelch as its a local dept with a strong signal. And its long lasting as well. Its hard to explain.

Upload a sound sample of this static as well as the url to the system you are hearing it on.
There are hundreds of sounds that can be incorrectly called static so uploading a sample of it is your best shot at someone being able to help ID it and maybe offer a solution.
