The Carrollton TX Public Safety Trunked Radio System (Carrollton Public Safety Trunking System, Carrollton, Texas - Scanner Frequencies) will migrate to a Harris Phase II P-25 system. It is expected that this migration will take up to 20 months to complete. It appears that an additional site in North Carrollton will be added and placed on an existing water tower. It also makes it sound like the City of Coppell will leave the Lewisville system and join the other three cities on the Carrollton system.

There is also discussion on creating a consolidated dispatch center for the member cities.

I'm going to revive this thread since I've not seen any mention of the new system that's online now. I've only had limited time to monitor it. Being I'm not from the area I'm leaving it here for discussion rather than putting it in the DB.

Most traffic is still on the old system, but it sounds like they now have a second control channel, apparently for the new system, on 854.7875.

Word I got was the start date (initial go-live that is) was on or about May 15, 2015. They will phase users over for a brief period, moving channels from the old system to the new one as they migrate users. The Carrollton PD and possibly FD will have 3 band radios (Harris Unity from the sounds of things) in their cars to allow for easy mutual aid (specifically with Dallas that's UHF, not sure what VHF they will need). Most portables will probably only be 700/800 MHz ones.

Offhand, the only Vhf I can think of that Carrollton will encounter on a semi-regular basis would be Dallas County S.O. and Tx DPS (on the Bush Turnpike).

Any word on encryption? If so that ruins one of the most popular live feeds in north Texas.

Hopefully they have better luck with their Harris system. The one where I live and two others that are near me have been full of problems...
