Cass County System

From what I've been told, primary dispatch channels like Cass County Sheriff, Belton PD, Harrisonville PD, Peculiar PD, Pleasant Hill PD and Raymore PD will ALL be encrypted 100% of the time.

that's to bad...they are missing out on the "Law A Biding " folks that could help them out in many cases...more eyes out there for them...but I guess they don't recognize us...

I heard from a very reliable LE source down there that the encryption issue is still undecided for most agencies. Belton PD is seriously considering a "full lockdown" on all future talkgroups, but that's only in the discussion phases at this point.

My advice: just wait a while longer and see what happens. Does anyone remember what happened when KCPD moved to P-25? For those who don't, the initial plans/radio programming templates showed 100% encryption was to be used on all talkgroups. Everyone (including myself) freaked out a bit thinking that was the end to monitoring in KCMO. Well, here we are almost 3 years later, and most of their traffic is in the clear. They only use secure voice when they need it. I'd say that's a very reasonable compromise for us (the scanner folk), media personnel, and anyone else who relies on scanner monitoring for whatever reasons.

This is from the county template, only these talk groups will be encrypted.

The only Dispatch that is listed full time encrypted will be Belton PD

All other Dispatch talk groups will be in the clear. (ITC)

I found on their website a fleetmap, and it didn't show Belton encrypted on it, unless they recently changed, but then again it looks like exactly what you had hkrharry... It also doesn't have talkgroup numbers.
