Bay, Midland and Tuscola counties have allocated roughly $1 million to convert their current 911 services to a digital, server-based system. That way, if services are interrupted, or if a call center becomes overwhelmed with a high number of calls, the new service automatically shifts calls to a dispatcher in a neighboring county, saving precious time in an emergency.
