Chautauqua County has filed an application with the FCC, to erect a five-site, Project 25 Phase II capable simulcast TRS. Does anyone know when this system is expected to go live?

FCC application.

Probably at least 3 to 5 years away if they are just applying now.

No, it doesn't. Buildout contract was only awarded last March. They got a waiver of the deadline, which is 30 days away. This means that they will not be able to beat the deadline.

I let unitrunker run for a while on the system and it has a bunch of radio IDs and other stuff captured. I'm not sure how to export it or submit it here.

is this kind of data from the unitrunker log file helpful?

programming

I have no experience programing a trunked radio system. With the information that RR has right now about the system will I be able to program a scanner? I see a list of frequencies, however do I need the talk groups? If so how could I determine what the talk groups are? Also, I see that some online distributors offer programming, will they already have the correct information on this new system to program?

We have received info that the system switchover should start in the next week. I suspect there will be either simulcast or patches in place for a while...

More info as it is received...

Switch over was to have taken place 2 weeks ago but there was a problem with paperwork or something. The new switch over is set for March 2016.

simulcast 156.210

It appears that the new system is being used. I hear what sounds like an analog simulcast on 156.210. I can hear north county units loud and clear in Jamestown.

Has anyone figured out the talk groups yet? Erie county guys should pick up the system pretty good. I have heard the system as far north as Hamburg on a portable (a portable in the system, not a scanner). Still on the fence if I should fork out the $$ for a P25 phase 2 scanner.

I passed through Chautauqua County yesterday, but did not think about having it on in the 436. I'm under the impression that they are having a problem with one of the frequencies, as it's interfering with something further north. The big complication for them is that even if it could clear US frequency coordination - which is difficult to begin with for a simulcast trunked system plopped on VHF frequencies, Canada will more than likely using the frequency somewhere in Ontario and will object to the use.

I got the 436 mostly for P25 phase 2, which is not common where I currently live, but seems to be how many places are going. The nice bonus for me has been Provoice (which IS used) and DMR. If and when phase 2 starts getting used locally, I'm not in the loop for the decision process. But when I go up to northeastern NJ, it is used there.

154.785 as the control channel???

If that is indeed the control channel, it is an odd choice.
154.785 was a channel for local police departments throughout the southern tier back in the day.
While I'm not sure how much it is used today, I know Corning is P25 on it.
The interference push back may not be from Canada, but from Catt, Allegany or Steuben counties.
I had read the sheriff was rabid for encryption, from the opin-ski testing days. I guess time will tell.

154.785 was the Chautauqua County Jail frequency and used to be a drug task force frequency. It is now just bursts of digital noise.

Depends on what scanner you get and how your programming it. When the system has at least 1 talkgroup listed in the db, the Uniden Bc436hp and 536hp will be able to download it to those radios. A trunked system without any talk groups will not download thru Uniden's software as they filter those out. They can be programmed manually without too much hassle. Not sure how Whistler does it. Determining talk groups is easy if you have a way to listen to the current system and the new system at the same time.

That freqs listed as the control channel. Our new 700 p25 phase II came online in June and all they have done is simulcasted 1 tg a few weeks and now nothing. Very slow process here .. If you had a sdr dongle and unitrunker, you could watch all activity on that freq and see everything..

Anyone have talk groups yet? Heard that the fire simulcast on low band will be history soon.
