The city of Ozark in Dale County, has applied to the FCC, in order to construct a Project 25 TRS. Does anyone know if this will be a stand alone system or part of the AFRN? More information is available on the FCC Web site:

This system was approved by the FCC in April. I was wondering if it's active at this time or not? Here's the frequencies:

  • 772.13125
  • 772.58125
  • 772.95625
  • 774.15625
  • 774.88125

On the Service Specific Link & under Eligibility it shows (Fire Department Services).

Someone may want to scan the 700 band between 769.000 & 775.000 and check for any control channel or digital voice activity.

Update: Looks like Ozark has switched over to a new 700 MHz P25 Trunking System. I live to far to south to confirm the 700 MHz frequencies. I can tell you that they are no longer using 155.820 for Police Dispatch. Or 154.325 for Fire. Both VHF Frequencies have gone silent. In the article it talks about how bad the 155.820 repeater was. It was one of the strongest and loudest VHF Repeaters in Southeast Alabama if you ask me.

Look again,
Alabama First Responder Network Trunking System, Varies, Alabama - Scanner Frequencies

True it is not in every county. The counties where it is located have the capability to link together on the system. With the new Ozark System being 700 mhz I would bet it is part of the new 700 Statewide System or will be in the future.

There is no state wide trunking system. As far as the Alabama First Responder Network Trunking System goes, the troopers use Mobile's System when they are in Mobile, they use Montgomery's System when they are in Montgomery, they use Madison's when they are in Madison and in other areas of the state they use their old VHF/UHF or have an agreement with the county to use the counties trunking system. I am sure they would like to have their own system but the fact is they don't have their own trunking system and there is no manufacture, Motorola, Harris or any other that has been approved to build a state wide system.
