I have driven from Boston to Buffalo at least 75 times in my life and know every inch of the road, every state police assignment and every speed trap and turnaround.

This May I will driving from Hartford to Buffalo and Google Maps showed me an option to go out via I 84 to I 81.

I've never driven that route before, but knowing that the majority of radio traffic in Troop A is on the county frequencies (Zone 1 and 4), my question is: on I 81 (and the different troops) are the troopers on the NYSP radio frequencies or on the county freqs?

Thank you

DIC, if you're coming across 17 and will hit 81 near Binghamton, then the Broome County Sheriffs are still VHF, but Cortland and Onondaga Counties are P25 trunked - and the Troopers use the county systems 98% of the time.
