Per a Deep Throat, they will be throwing the switch sometime in a few days. He/she won't tell me if it's full operational off the bat or if they'll be testing going on.

I have been listening to the new P25 phase 2 system for the past 30 minutes.

Only have noticed the PWCPD Admin (talkgroup 1001) and PWCFD 5B response (talkgroup 2003) being used routinely.

Testing is currently happening on PWCFD Fire Dispatch (talkgroup 2001).

PWCPD regular dispatch channels are still exclusive on the old P16 system.

So far everything is FDMA only; no TDMA use yet.
There have also only been 2 voice freqs used; (851.47500 & 851.70000)

Looks like they are using TDMA for some talkgroups as of this morning.

PD and FD are still on FDMA talkgroups. Don't think they will be switching anytime soon. PD still have many if not all old radios. The dispatchers however have the new TDMA capable radios.

Does anyone in range of the new PWC P25 system have a TDMA scanner? I am using the PSR-500 with Pro96Com running. I can see TDMA talkgroups 3038, 3040, 3042, 3044, 3046, 3132, 3156 being used. I am thinking that maybe they are testing and setting up these channels.

I'm out of range of the system, but some of those talkgroups fall in the Schools range of talkgroups from the legacy system.

Are you able to run Unitrunker or similar program on the legacy system and provide updates on the primary control, alternate controls, and voice channels in use? And could you do the same for the P25 system? (I think Pro96Com can provide this information for the P25 system.)

Thanks,
Dave

The old school bus talkgroups are silent on the old TRS. If you take the old school bus talkgroup# and 1st subtract 16 then divide by 16 you will get what I believe is the new P25 TDMA talkgroup. They are really active right now; since it's the end of the school day.

P25 channels:

851.17500 transmits callsign of WPCJ864 (comes back to an expired license from nextel according to fcc) just transmited WPHP905 which is the correct callsign

853.60000 active control
853.62500 alt cc
853.85000 alt cc
853.87500 alt cc

851.45000 FDMA voice
851.47500 FDMA voice
851.70000 FDMA voice
851.72500 FDMA voice
851.96250 FDMA voice
852.78750 FDMA voice

851.17500/0 TDMA voice
851.17500/1 TDMA voice
852.72500/0 TDMA voice
852.72500/1 TDMA voice

New P25 talkgroups not in database

1005 - PWCPD Central (patched with 1003 during day)
2007 - PWCFD 5D Incident 2
3065 - PWCFD 51I
3067 - PWCFD 51J
3069 - PWCFD 51K

3132 - unknown (TDMA)
3156 - unknown (TDMA)

The old trs is currently using 853.87500 as its control

Thanks. I updated the database. For the control channels, is 853.6000 listed as the primary control channel, and the other three as alternates? Just making sure we have them designated correctly in the database.

Yes the P25 system has a control channel of 853.60000. The other 3 are all alternate control channels.

Also the legacy PWC system has a control channel of 853.87500 currently. That can be updated as well in the database. 853.60000 will be an alternate control channel for the legacy PWC system.

Running wildcard tonight on new system, so far (last hour or so) nothing but 1007 (west1), 2001(5a), and 3025(ADC) have hit. I find it curious that West1 is hitting, but neither East1 or Central is coming across. One at a time I suppose.

The East 1 and Central talkgroups are on and off; I have noticed so far. I have had the P25 system on and have been receiving East 1/Central patch all early afternoon and then all of a sudden I don't hear any traffic on East 1 or Central. I still think they are doing testing on this system. The PD has not been switching between FDMA and TDMA because I would have noticed with Pro96Com.

The new PWC School Security Dispatch talkgroup is 3054. Only TDMA.

I am holding out hope that only the schools will be in TDMA; but this seems like a very optimistic idea. LOL. Well time to start looking at the new Uniden BCD436/536 or the PSR-800. Heard the PSR-800 does a horrible job at decoding Simulcast P25 Phase 2; so may want to stay away from that scanner.

Anyone want a PRO-96 or PSR-500 for a reasonable price? PM me if interested.

I have a PSR-800 and it does great with Loudoun's P25 Phase 2 TDMA system, which is simulcast. Maybe it's just my location in the county (I'm in Leesburg), but I haven't really had any issues picking up the system wherever I've been. If you'd like to hear a bit, I'll set up a private stream at home this afternoon that you can listen to.

BTW, what used to be the PSR-800 will be the Whistler WS-1080, available later this year. A mobile/base version (what would've been the PSR-900) will be the WS-1095. I would be surprised if you could find any new PSR-800's at this time.

Noticing central on 3122 this evening .... I'll note anything else I come across later.

3122 showing East1 today (I'll see what shows after East/Central are unpatched later this afternoon.)

Also

1031 - SpecEvents3/Jiffy Lube Live (active today with WMZQ Fest)

Brief hit on 3121, but only once, it was A510 traffic. (edit to add, more one sided traffic on 3121, I believe it's 5b, I locked out 2003 in the wildcard)
