Ontario Airport

What is the frequency for Ontario Airport Tower? Or SoCal Approach or Center?

I live in the Fontana area and wondering if anyone here also scans airports/flights? I tried inputting in the tower frequency 120.6 into my pro-97 (Fine Tune Mode). Am I too far? What is good to listen if i live in the SoCal area for aviation?

Fontana should be plenty close to hear Ontario (both sides). I can hear the tower and aircraft from my location about 40 miles away.

Here are some freqs to try...

120.6000 Ontario Tower
121.9000 Ontario Ground
118.1000 Ontario Clearance

Here are the SoCal Approach/Departure freqs used in the area

119.6500 SoCal A/D
125.5000 SoCal A/D
127.2500 SoCal A/D
134.0000 SoCal A/D
135.4000 SoCal A/D
119.2500 SoCal A/D
134.3500 SoCal A/D

Another good approach freq is 124.050 for LAX

Also don't forget LA Center.... these are my favorites

132.8500 LA Center
119.9500 LA Center
125.6500 LA Center

And plenty more out there.

Woah, thanks Brandon for the frequencies!!! I got one question, not sure if you have a pro-97 or not from.... To manually input a frequency to listen, do i press tune and input the frequency and then press ENT?

I had the ONT tower frequency, but I dont get alot of traffic coming in...and sometimes I think im only getting the aircraft side of the conversation. Im pretty sure im only 15 miles from ONT. Not sure why I dont get much from it. I have alot of communication devices in my room, maybe interference?

Hopefully i can figure it out

I am about 7 miles away and can not hear the tower even on the external antenna. Their antenna system is probably pointing up making it hard for us on the ground. A few years ago I never had this problem, so I guess they changed something or power settings a while back.

I can't directly answer for the PRO-97, however I have a PRO-96 and I direct enter freqs using that same method (press TUNE, type in freq, press ENTER).

I've noticed that before with Salt Lake Intl airport. I was near the airport and had trouble hearing it yet when I was 70 miles to the south I could hear the ATIS at full quieting. Very strange!!

Ontario towers signal varies each day for me. Sometimes it's nearly full strength and other times its 2-3 bars. ATIS has the same problem but the ground frequency does not... it always comes in good. As expected the aircraft also have a better signal (and unexpectedly even ones on the taxiways sound better than the controller).

I guess its my location or something, my problem is probably going along with swest90's ...I dont get much in from ONT tower, ground, clearance or atis, unless its planes going in for approach over my house I can hear then on the tower frequency. Local PD and everything else is fine, thinking how planes can hear the tower, I was thinking being 15 miles from ONT wouldnt be a problem to listen in.

Driving near the airport I could hear better, but just a slightly better signal quality. =/

Do you know what frequency handles approaches into ONT? Would be cool to sitoutside the house and just watch the planes come in to land and listen in.

I heard SoCal on 119.650 handing aircraft over to Ontario.
