I don't see this frequency in the DB, but at least some NYC EMS radios have this programed as "SUBWAY RPTR", wideband and with a PL of 85.4. I do hear occasional kerchunks there, so there does indeed seem to be an active repeater there, but have never heard any actual activity.

My recollection is that this used to be the old EMS CW channel, from back in the day.

Again, it's not in the RR DB. Anyone know for sure what this is?

They removed the old ems cw and then placed it back in the radio under a zone called old. There were repeaters installed in the midtown tunnel and a few other locations which had never been updated for the new narrowband.
About a month ago they started to relabel it to the subway name. Years ago when they setup the 2 fire Subway repeaters, there was supposed to be a ems one programmed but it never happened for some reason.

So yes this is the old ems cw now being repurposed.

Ah, so everything old is new again. Thanks for the authoritative info.

(I was an EMS paramedic a zillion years ago, back when it was still HHC).

I found a chart for radio layout of ems post radio and it shows programmed in each ems zone.
