Just picked up a new 2014 Dodge Dart SXT Rallye and im drooling over the posabilities of radios for it, i have a yaesu ft-1900 that i want to put in it and im thinking some kind of trunk mount 2m antenna for it. I will most likely go with a dual band antenna so if i want 440mhz in the car later i can. I got shuch a good deal on the 1900 with the mail in rebate, I had to buy it.

Having not been inside one, I cannot say what to do or what not to do.

But I will say this: "Thanks for keeping me employed." ;-)

I haul parts into the plant that builds them.

When I saw "Dodge Dart" I got excited. Until I realized it wasn't anything like my 70s classic...

Meanwhile, I could have a new any-thing-model and would drill a hole in the roof. The radio is more important to me than the car. ;)

That green monster is Beggin for a nice low-band whip..center-trunk NMO...

Im looking at starting a resto project in the next couple years..maybe a 66-67-68
chevelle..possibly a 65-66 goat..Was just talking to the wife last night about having
more than enough garage space to start a build..Nothing like American Muscle!

Your post was like a sign from the musclecar gods to make it happen!

Nice looking car. Maybe one of those goose neck mounts. The ones that mount to the existing seat bolts. That's if you can use a remote head. I'm not familiar with the radio. That cubby hole in front of the gear shift looks like a possibility too.

Antenna,...NMO in the middle of the trunk deck. If that's not an option, "L" bracket NMO.

the cubby hole, watch the heat build up. poor ventilation, and the radio is the heat sink. had a yaesu 8900, chrysler lhs, cubby hole, and within 15 minutes, the display said "HEAT" THEN turned a black display. Somewhere on the side of your center console, or remove the right seat. Went to remote heads, radio under the seat and the control head, held on by velcro. I had the father of the 1900, the 1500. Good radio but no place to mount it.

Here's how I did the install on my Dart. I drive it for months before deciding on how to mount this.

The goose mount didn't work. The front bolts are set back too far in the seat rails. I could have cut off an inch and a half off the one rail, or hard mount the remote head. I choose the latter.

The side panels of the console pop right off. The knob panel pops right out as well so it was easy to determine if it was safe to drill two 3/16 inch holes to mount the face

I also put a remote speaker in the console cubby.
