I down loaded the app pulse point. Added in Newport Beach as my area and waited. Now I can see all the medical in real time along with the assigned units. It kind do like CHP instant auto cad with out the voice in an app.. I know there going to be a big discussion about good Samaritans running out their door to save a neighbor. Just type in your zip or search for dept. in your area.

So as far as orange county is concerned , it looks like metronet is a player but OCFA is not. Anyone seeing any different?

Probably cause OCFA is still running on their old CAD

The City of Newport Beach, in conjunction with the other Metro Cities fire agencies from Anaheim, Brea, Fountain Valley, Fullerton, Garden Grove, Huntington Beach, and the City of Orange, have launched a trial version of the smart phone application Pulse Point.

Just downloaded the app and I am still playing around with it. Can anybody clarify whether this lets you receive alerts for multiple agencies? It looks like it is only letting me select one agency to view from.

Yes, you can receive alerts for up to 15 agencies! Go to agencies in the sidebar, then scroll to the ones you want and click through and click follow for each. Then in the same sidebar go to settings and click what alerts you want!

I am not seeing that option. Perhaps it is different for the Android phones?

Also, I thought it was interesting that while I was at Fashion Island yesterday I got a call on PulsePoint before for a traffic collision across the street before I heard it dispatched over the air.

For other agencies, like Anaheim Fire & Rescue, I did not receive any notices. I also checked the app and saw no incidents despite hearing a heavy rescue operation over the scanner.

Does anyone have any information on how the app is relayed information? Is it direct from the CAD?

Sorry for my ignorance, still learning!

Some agencies take a while to dispatch on the radio. There are times that you will get the notification many seconds before the actual broadcast goes out on your radio…and as for android or iPhone, I have an iPhone so I could not tell you the difference… But make sure you update the app, I think they provided an update.and make sure you heard the correct address and city… Metronet North dispatch covers Brea, Fullerton, Anaheim, Orange, and Garden Grove.
As for the relay of the info through the system, there's some special thing that it goes through but I could not tell you. They have a great Facebook and Twitter site, send them a message and they'd be happy to answer your technical questions.

Cad generates the info. It's the dispatcher / comm. manager with city managers approval that dictates what info. Get displayed..

I would be curious whether they exclude certain calls, like the Police do in the police blotters. In any event, I looked into the multi-agency problem and apparently it is an update that is forthcoming for Android phones - can't wait!
