So I want to get a scanner that picks up certain frequencies, the info i found on the internet that explains what kind they are, which Uniden do I need, thanks for your help?

Regional Wireless Cooperative (RWC) P25 Trunked Radio System

Talk Groups:
Agencies utilizing the RWC are assigned ranges of talk groups based on their operational needs. Primary operational non-secure talk group IDs are listed by discipline and agency.

Valley Fire Agencies
FIRE 1 (K01 Dispatch) 1795
FIRE 2 (K02) 1753
FIRE 3 (K03) 1786
FIRE 5 (K05) 1753
FIRE 6 (K06) 1615
FIRE 7 (K07) 1614
FIRE 8 (K08) 1613
FIRE 9 (K09) 1612
FIRE 10 (K10) 1611
FIRE 11 (K11) 1610
FIRE 12 (K12) 1609
FIRE 13 (K13) 1608
FIRE 14 (K14) 1607

Radio Scanners:
Conventional VHF and UHF scanners cannot receive RWC radio transmissions. Specialized receivers that can decode control channel information are required to receive trunked radio systems. There are several consumer-level scanners that can track and decode APCO-25 IMBE digital systems such as used with the RWC. P25 scanners are currently available from a few radio manufacturers. There may be additional products in development that may offer more choices in the relatively near future. The RWC does not endorse or recommend any particular manufacturer or scanner model.

The Uniden BCD396XT will work. Is cheaper and easier to program then the BCD436HP but the BCD436HP will do P25 Phase 2 which is used on Salt River Pima-Maricopa Indian Community. This are the handheld (mobile) scanner. The Base scanners are BCD996XT and BCD536HP.

Right on, thankyou, I'm trying to get the Phoenx Fire Depatment K deck channels, do you know if that scanner will work for those?

Had you posted this question in the AZ forum, the locals would tell you that all of the above scanners (and others) will technically "work" with the RWC, but the newest line of scanners, the BCD436HP and 536 will handle the simulcast phase distortion issues that have forever plagued scanner users in the valley the best.

These will all work for the Phoenix Regional Dispatch Center K-deck and L-deck channels. Using the White Tanks, South Mtn and Thompson Peak IR sites, you don't have to worry about multipath interference issues from the simulcast sites, such as Simulcast B, so you don't have to pay for the newer 436/536 scanners, if you don't want to. The older 396/996 and HP1 will work just fine.
That said, if, in a few years, the RWC sites all switch over to P25 Phase II, as it is rumoured they may, then the 396/996 and HP1 scanners won't receive them. However, that is still at least a few years away, and other models of scanners from Uniden, as well as Whistler, will most likely be on the market by then.

Gee wiz information...Salt River hasn't moved to Phase 2 yet. I still hear them on the regular channels.

The bcd396xt does not do p25 phase 2 only the newer scanners x36hp scanners. If the member wants to listen to only to p25 phase 1 then the 396xt will work fine. If he wants to listen to phase 2 then he needs the x36hp. With the info he provided he would be fine with the 396xt.
