Out of frustration, I finally developed my own simple BCDx36HP recording tool. It's a command line based tool that reads all of the recordings in the user specified folder, parses the headings, and creates a webpage on your desktop. When opened, the webpage displays:

timestamp
duration of recording
talkgroup name
talkgroup ID (or conventional frequency and related data)
radio ID (if captured)
department name
system name
site name
favorites list name

The timestamp is a clickable link that allows you to click to play the recording.

The columns are click-sortable.

The program allows filtering on file scan:

suppress recordings of less than X seconds (3 seconds is the current default)
system
department
talkgroup
site (trunked systems)

If anyone would like to give it a try, PM me with an email address and I'll send you a copy to test.

Be forewarned - it is a Windows executable. I can promise I didn't include any hidden surprises but other than that, I offer no warranties.

I am interested in having some folks test it out and give me some feedback and suggestions on additional options.

I am getting a message stating that it is incompatible with my version of Windows. Any suggestions? I am running Windows 7 Pro

Ok - that may be the problem.... I'm on and probably building a 64 bit executable. I'l look into that.

In the mean time, after spending the last several days working out the kinks, I'm seeing problems processing recordings from today so it wouldn't surprise me if others are having more problems than I expected. I'm looking into it but please advise what you are finding in your attempts to run the program. Thanks.

I had the radio HOLDing on a specific system today to see if it did any better capturing radio IDs and the results lead to a change in the program.

Here is the latest version for anyone who wants to give it a try.

You'll need to remove the ".txt" extension. The program should be called

x36read-0.2b.exe

When you double-click, it will provide a usage statement and then prompt you for input (directory name containing your recordings, filters, etc.).

Report your findings here in the thread and I'll work through any issues y'all find...

I cannot get it started on my system

x8 Core 16GB Ram

I get a Runtime error when trying to use a folder that I created on my desktop..
I was typing the full path to the folder...(I miss DOS)

Error is:
ICC Runtime
Exception 0xc0000005:
Segment Violation
Address: 0x405dd0

I assume you are double-clicking on the execute on the desktop -- can you tell me EXACTLY what you enter when prompted for the folder/path to your recordings?

Hmmmm... I was thinking the C: was causing a problem but I just tried it and it worked fine.

Can you open a command prompt (DOS window) and try running it from there -- type the name of the program and supply the full directory path/name on the command line and/or at the prompt?

Has anyone else been able to run either version of the program and get output?
