Last week I kept hearing an open carrier on Bloomfield FD's main channel. I'm not hearing any intereference today on that channel but this week they are operating on their secondary channel with less power.

The second odd thing is that this morning they had an exterior dumpster fire at a commercial establishment in which they called for mutual aid to standby. A few minutes later they called the fire under control and a few minutes after that they reported that they were leaving the scene and that mutual aid should be cancelled. I'm not second guessing the chief on scene but it seems to me that mutual aid is being called for some of the most trivial things these days.

Moose,

I think we get into a slippery slope when we question a commanding officers
decision in the field for resources, who knows he might have been down an
engine today, manpower shortage or there was a good chance of extension
who knows, I know as I Chief EMS I try to be very careful when requesting
resources. Just my opinion here not trying to start an internet war on
M/A policy, but it could make for a great debate / breakout session
at a convention.

Anyway Bloomfield FD was having a lot of radio issues last week and
used the Essex County Fire Channel while there main channel was
down. Glad to see they got it fixed and there back up and running
on the own channel.

Have a great time
