Schriever Air Force Base will be hosting a drill on Thursday and Friday, September 18-19, 9:30 am to 11:15 am at the base soccer field.

This annual exercise will simulate a medical situation that requires immediate med-evac to a local hospital.

Flight-for-Life medical helicopter crews will be able to practice landing and launching from the base while getting the Air Force first responders familiarized with FFL's mission, capabilities, and procedures.

If you are in the area, you should be able to hear FFL on the following frequencies:

DTRS TG-2808 - FFL gives location reports, updates status, and exchanges landing information on this DTRS talk group. They often switch over to STAC-D once they get the ground contact info over the DTRS TG or Pikes Peak base frequency.

STAC-D (Statewide/Simplex TACtical channel - Direct). STAC is the Statewide low-power channel used often for medical chopper landing zone (LZ) coordination with firefighters on the ground. STAC-D is the direct simplex channel most often used and operates on 853.7875 MHz (156.7 PL).

155.355 MHz - This is an FM transmitter on top of Pikes Peak that FFL communications center uses to transmit voice communications to the helicopter.

123.005 and 129.550 MHz - These are AM and also used by FFL.

And last but not least, there is the Air Force Trunked System.
United States Air Force (BEE00-157) Trunking System, Various, Multi-State - Scanner Frequencies

Air Force site-004 is the one Schriever uses, but all of the USAF sites in the Colorado Springs metro area are connected. Sometimes radios and TGs are denied from other bases' sites but there is not too much of that, so you might still be able to listen to the Peterson AFB site-001, Cheyenne Mtn AFS site-005 (SAFB sometimes denied), or Air Force Academy site-012 (SAFB sometimes denied) and hear some events happening at Schriever. Peterson's site will be the most likely though.

Schriever AFB TGs start with 41XXX and their radio IDs start with 1601XXXX.

There should be some interesting radio traffic on the Air Force trunked system.

FFL cancelling for Schriever today due to a real patient or two. They will try again tomorrow.
