I have tried them all but I use Scanner Radio, by Gordon Edwards ($2.99). It has the best sound, is easy to use, and has nice graphics. I also use the free version so I can hear two feeds at once. It has a few less features.

They are regularly updated and Gordon is a member hear at RR.

My feed averages in the top three worldwide, at night that is. My feed management page tells me what apps/programs are currently being used by my listeners. The majority of my listeners use Scanner Radio.

Action Scanner lets you set up four banks of four channels each.

You can listen to one bank of four channels at a time.

It acts more like a scanner then the other apps.

How about Ford/Chevy/Dodge? It's sorta like asking the same thing. The "best" will depends on your personal preferences, what feeds they carry (is the one you want carried), and your preference on looks or taste. IOW, only you can answer which one is best for you.

I use quite a few scanner apps for the iPhone and they all work great.

ACARS App - set phone next to scanners speaker and tune to an ACARS frequency. Watch all the text and locations of tons of aircraft.

Radio ID - decodes MDC1200 and GE Star.

Satellite Safari - tracks all satellites birds up in the sky.

FreeScan - Remote control from anywhere in the world a 396XT or 996XT

These are my favorite specifically dedicated to the scanner hobby apps.

How ever it seems that you can not do anything else with your phone with out this app shutting off. Other scanner apps run in the background if you say are texting or checking emails, this one just shuts down :(

You merely need to set it to run in the background.

Look in the settings.

Any one have a recommendation on an app for both iPhone and iPad that supports custom feeds and Alpha Tags? So far I have not had very good luck besides TuneIn Radio.

I've had the same issue. Gordon Edwards app for android was rock solid but the iOS version does not support custom feeds and he has no plays to change it.

All the iOS apps I've tried all seem to get the alpha tags out of sync. The below seems to do it the least

Police Radio - Live Police, Fire and EMS by Christopher Coudriet

For IOS, FStream free works very well with Proscan as the server
for Android - Win500 Android Client, because it streams and controls my PSR600, doesn't get any cooler than that.

If there was a Proscan client for Android, I'd be all over it for my Bearcat.

How well does that work?
Have you tried it in the car? Will the audio come over bluetooth?
How about the tags?
