3 employees were exposed to tear gas. Airport is on lock down. CPD is getting IDs from everybody coming off of Yeager. Huge back up at the bottom of the hill. CPD calling for more units.
Yeager Airport Director Rick Atkinson said the substance released when a Delta Air Lines staff member opened a piece of luggage was the result of two personal hygiene products mixing together.
Initial reports identified the substance released as CS gas, a common type of tear gas.
Sayre said airport staff also found prescription medication in the bag that was not prescribed to the owner. The drugs have been turned over to authorities.
