Hello,
I bought a PSR500 for my dad and I'm unable to listen to City of Statesville. I can hear it just fine on my 396xt. Any suggestions?

Is the Statesville Public Utility system something different than P25? Is that why I cannot hear on PSR-500?

check the control channels and make sure you have the active cc in it its been almost 2 years since it was last updated

Thanks for the reply. I checked the cc and it is correct, based on what is in the RR database. Still no luck.

Put it in tour radio and see if you hear any p25 noise tho if not then the cc has changed but no one has changed it in the db

Yes, I can hear the noise on the control channel and have strong signal strength. This one has be baffeled!

and you have the system as p25 auto? are you picking any other systems up on that scanner?

Yes, I have it set to P25 auto and I can receive NC Viper and Iredell County talk groups.

im not sure then unless it may be a simulcast system but even then i would think you would hear something

I figured it out! I changed to setting from P25 Auto to P25 Manual and I can now receive Statesville.
