BLOUNTVILLE, Tenn. — The mayors from Sullivan County and its cities -- Bristol, Tennessee, Kingsport and Bluff City -- signed an interlocal agreement Wednesday for shared use of a newly purchased digital emergency radio system.

Very strange. As they pat each other on the back for spending $10 million, many state/county/city governments are joining the Tennessee Advanced Communications Network, which is being installed statewide. Very strange

I just find it interesting that one of the reasons they said for change was due to the "Dead Spots" in the mountainous areas but they went with 700Mhz and not VHF which does alot better in the mountians.

They are using the same 800 freqs they had before and going to use some TACN sites to fill in the gap

Both the TCAN sites in Sullivan County are 700Mhz.

True but the simulcast system is a 3 site 800 that they are going P25 and some channels TDMA .
