Makes you wonder if it was a legit human error or they follow the deceased suspesuspects views. Shame they deserve to be fired for this. No excuse. It would be different under heavy traffic or multi tasking but for three to fail to flag it over the cad or dispatch it out is uncalled for.

"Leon County Sheriff's Office Maj. Robert Swearingen said it's unknown whether or not Smith would have changed how he approached the call had he known about Holley's threats".

Of course he would. Any officer with any common sense would have waited for backup and maintained cover. Maybe they need to fire this Major too.

The alerts should automatically display without the dispatchers having to bring it up and their seems to be a lack of proper training as well. Maybe the director should be replaced too. It appears that this new dispatch center is lacking in proper administration.

I spent over 20 years on the street and trained dispatchers. If the dispatchers find it "to hard" as one said, to follow basic safety procedures such as accessing officer safety information on their screens and relaying that to the officers then they should find another line of work. Officer safety should be number one in dispatching. These veteran dispatchers should have known better regardless.

I spent 28 years doing something similar and don't claim universal knowledge on tactics.

Perhaps you know the Major's inside info on this unfortunate incident?
