Thank you, does it make any difference in the way the scanner recieves? I know I was told to set it to ctcss and the code to search for analog channels but I was wondering what I should set it to for the best performance on digital channels, weather it should be none or search or what

When entering frequencies with unknown tone or NAC just use Auto and let the scanner find the appropriate tone. Do the same in a search, just use Auto and the scanner will do the finding for you.

Analog frequencies may use either CTCSS or DCS. If you're setting unknown analog frequencies to only CTCSS, you may never receive anything if the agency is actually using DCS.
Use Search for any unknowns.
