Just wondering if anybody has any idea what type of encryption St Pete PD is using?

is using, is it provoice like Tampa PD?

Provoice is the M/A-Com/Harris EDACS digital modulation, it is not an encryption scheme. As for SPPD and Pinellas county they are on a P25 Phase 1 system and more likely than not using AES256

SPPD encryption

I would say more than likely Motorola's ADP. I know there was a thread floating around that had sound bites of what different types of encryption sound like.

Great find!! Is this cost per radio? If so that would be a crazy amount of money the city spent. When reading the descriptions you will also notice almost all radios include ADP encryption programming.

All you have to do is call it "art" and the Pity Of St. Pete will buy it!

Yes, ADP is "free", but it is Moto proprietary and does not promote interop between agencies. If an agency really needs encryption, stay with the AES. Yes, its pricey, but they need to decide if they truly need it. ADP just muddies the waters and appeals to smaller agencies that don't want anybody to be able to monitor.
