Hello. New to the forum and from New York. In New York ,the police and EMS term used over the radio for anyone hurt is "aided". Even the report is an aided report. Is that the same word used in Chicago and heard over the air? Thanks.

If someone is injured or in need of medical attention, CPD uses "plain language"...("Squad, can you send me an ambulance for xxxxxx".

If a report is required, they use the Illinois Uniform Crime Reporting (UCR Codes). An injured person report is usually a "5089" which means Hospitalization Case-Accidental Injury. You might hear it like this: "Give me an RD (Report Division) for a 5089"..hope it helps.

Thank you very much Melvin1987 and Werinshades. In New York they
use terms that hide what's going on(well, it's not exactly a phone
conversation) to a great degree.

Do the CPD detectives also plain speak what they encounter? What
words do they use to ID themselves when they go over the air? Thank
you again.

Detectives have radio call signs like all other CPD Units. Most of their conversations are over the phones with beat officers, citizens etc. They have a "dedicated" channel (City-Wide 2), but the radios allow them to switch to any Zone so it's possible to hear them during a "major" incident...shootings/stabbings etc.
