Hi everyone,

I've had a little free time to work on TwoToneDetect (new release coming soon) and also created a companion app called TwoToneFinder. This program can be used to find unknown tone sets. Upon finding a valid two-tone or long tone page, the program will record the dispatch audio and log relevant information in a text file. You can find this new program here:

TwoToneFinder | TwoToneDetect

For those familiar with TwoToneDetect this should be pretty straightforward to use. Let me know of any issues.

Thanks,

Andy

I was fixing to post a question about your software/website and just happened to find your thread here. Never used your software before although I've heard of twotonedetect.

I was scowering the web to find a program to decode the fire tones so I know what they are and found twotonedetect here:
TwoToneDetect - The RadioReference Wiki

The wiki says for full details and instructions, go here:
http://sites.google.com/site/radioetcetera/twotoneprogram
On that page it says latest version is 65c and there is no mention of twotonedetect.net.

I did find twotonedetect.net in a search but was wary if it was a legitimate site since there was no mention of that website in the wiki or site.google.com page and most people dont have two separate websites. The latest version of twotonefinder there is 65d which I see that you must have just uploaded the newer version.

To make a long story short, the wiki and sites.google.com need to be updated or something to indicate your main website.

TwoToneDetect used to redirect to the google sites page. I've just recently begun transferring content off of the google sites page over to TwoToneDetect. When you go to the google sites page, it should redirect you to twotonedetect.net, at least it does when I've tested it.

Anyone can update the Wiki ;-)

Your new site seemed better than the google one.

sites.google.com didnt redirect me to twotonedetect.net if thats what your saying.

I dont know how to update any wiki nor have any desire to edit/update them. I just thought I would give you a heads up. Seems like everytime I search for something there is a link to a wiki page so the correct information would prove valid.

Done.

The RR Wiki: TwoToneDetect page did/does have a link to TwoToneDetect, but the link's name was simply the word "here" at the end of a sentence.
The link has been updated and now displays the URL "www.TwoToneDetect.net" at the end of that sentence.

Hope this helps,

Im starting to play around with twotonefinder. Havent gotten a fire tone yet. Is there a way you could add the ability to open a sound file and analyze it like it was actually coming from the scanner?

That would equal some experience before an actual fire tone come out. I really dont want to wait all day for a fire tone just to find out something is wrong with the settings or something. Then that could be another day waiting just to try different settings. Also a person could record the audio possibly from another location then analyze it with the program.

Here is the link to an AB tone 757/1000:

Play that tone set on your iPhone, Droid, iPod or whatever with the audio fed into the soundcard from the earphone jack on the device. Test to your heart's content.

Having an issue myself here.

I can set the audio squelch level to just above the audio input level to where the tone frequency says "No Audio" or squelch closed. It works fine there until I restart my computer and open TTF back up. Now the same setting produces "Tone Frequency: various Hz" or squelch open. The audio input level is the same as before but I have to move the audio squelch level way over to the right (a long way from the edge of the green in audio input level before it says "Tone Frequency: No Audio". If I wait a little while I can move the audio squelch level slider back over to the left where it belongs with no issues. Not sure what the problem is.

Update:
The issue isnt with TwoToneFinder. It is something else. Not sure what. It just does it when the computer is off for awhile. If I restart it, it doesnt do it.

I have downloaded the twotonefinder program and cannot get the audio portion to function. The instructions on the webpage are confusing after the download section, as they refer to twotone detect.

Exactly what do I need to for the program to record the audio? My log file shows that the program is logging tones. But, there are no files in the audio folder.

I have twoTone detect working fine on another computer.

Thanks for any help.

Working great here! For recorded files, just set your record properties of your computer to Stereo Mix or Rec. Playback.

Is ffmpeg.exe file in the same folder as twotonefinder executable? Also, some versions of ffmeg might not work. I used the same one I am using for TTdetect.

Found my error - I manually edited the config file and saw that my long tone duration had somehow been set to 410350.35 seconds. (something in the 400,000s) I changed it back to single digits and TTFinder has been running for over 8 hours solid, logging lots of tones. I may have a high false positive rate, but will do some a-b duration tweaking to try and quiet it down.

Thanks!
