• To anyone looking to acquire commercial radio programming software:

Please do not make requests for copies of radio programming software which is sold (or was sold) by the manufacturer for any monetary value. All requests will be deleted and a forum infraction issued. Making a request such as this is attempting to engage in software piracy and this forum cannot be involved or associated with this activity. The same goes for any private transaction via Private Message. Even if you attempt to engage in this activity in PM's we will still enforce the forum rules. Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

I am posting this message for my son whom just received a new connect systems CS 700 radio. Interesting problem here, the Radio trips the GFI outlets in the Kitchen. As a control we tested the outlets with a vx7r and no issues. Jerry from CSI, says that it has something to do with DMR, because cs 700 is the only dmr portable, I cannot test like for like, I was hoping to get some answers here before, I rip the evx5400 out of its installation. Any ideas? Worried about RF exposure mostly. Thanks

The TDMA transmitters can play havoc with some GFI's if nearby, I think it is due to the rapid cycling of the carrier. I know I've had my XPR7550 trip my bathroom GFI if I key up within about 2 feet of it (yeah, I know, shouldn't be talking while on the can).

You sure it was the RFI and not the fumes?

I just tried my Hytera PD362 and my CS700 within a foot of my kitchen GFI with no problem. It may be a shielding or product specific problem.

It's not just a DMR thing. I once had an Icom D-Star handheld that did the same thing to a GFI outlet.

That was four years ago, at a different QTH. I no longer have that Icom, and I haven't encountered that problem with my CS-700 at my current home.

I've popped a few in my time on UHF ht's. A favorite was a space heater in the shack. You could hear it tick. Once you hit the sweet spot, off it would go. Great fun.

Yep, my Yaesu FT-60R will trip some GFIs too... It was interesting at one of the EOCs I was at last year, every time I keyed up to let them know I fixed the problem, the breaker tripped on the power strip and I had to fix it again.

We ended up using a different power strip and that GFI didn't trip with my radio anymore. :)
