• To anyone looking to acquire commercial radio programming software:

Please do not make requests for copies of radio programming software which is sold (or was sold) by the manufacturer for any monetary value. All requests will be deleted and a forum infraction issued. Making a request such as this is attempting to engage in software piracy and this forum cannot be involved or associated with this activity. The same goes for any private transaction via Private Message. Even if you attempt to engage in this activity in PM's we will still enforce the forum rules. Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

This is a large and very visible forum. We cannot jeopardize the ability to provide the RadioReference services by allowing this activity to occur. Please respect this.

Leave it alone and use it like it is. The radio doesn't use enough over rated components to gain anything so Don't fix what's not broke, I'm sure you've heard that before...

Yeah, that's not the radio you want to be "peaking" or "tuning". If you want a radio with more power (or modulation, or whatever) look at a different line of radios. You can turn up the modulation on those, and to some extent the power, but the gain will be next to nothing...in fact, the modulation can actually cost you effective radiated power in some cases....just my thoughts.

It works better right now than it will when you're done tinkering (I know from experience)...just my two cents

In past years, many were made by Uniden but now who knows...
The only cb I had worth keeping was from Motorola. :)

Looks like a Uniden PRO505. Modifications to CB radios are illegal and void your authority to use this equipment.

I'm sure if someone followed you around all day they would find you go over the posted speed limit, jaywalk, spit on the sidewalk, don't use your seat belt, use too much or more probably not enough toilet paper, cheat on your taxes, etc. Why do you care if he tunes up his CB radio?

So taxing the final transistor past its maximum dissipation rating to get barely 1db signal increase is that important to you?
It'll smoke alright....

Need a lot of help.

I have Radio shack cb radio
Model - 2100164

I need to know what to do to get the most and best range out of it. I have a 1000watt antenna Hooked up to my cb. But I still get hardly any range Manet 2-3 miles tops. How do I amp it up. What kind of amp do I need to buy to get better range? I don't want to go broke doing this. But I want to get at lest 10-20 mile range. So please help me what else do I need to do or by to get my cb working better. As it sits now it's better off as a paper weight. U can email me as well at chefseehus@yahoo.com or get me of Facebook messenger. Todd Seehus.

Thanks everyone.
