• To anyone looking to acquire commercial radio programming software:

Please do not make requests for copies of radio programming software which is sold (or was sold) by the manufacturer for any monetary value. All requests will be deleted and a forum infraction issued. Making a request such as this is attempting to engage in software piracy and this forum cannot be involved or associated with this activity. The same goes for any private transaction via Private Message. Even if you attempt to engage in this activity in PM's we will still enforce the forum rules. Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

This is a large and very visible forum. We cannot jeopardize the ability to provide the RadioReference services by allowing this activity to occur. Please respect this.

Does anyone else hear "The Body Shop?"

When conditions are right I hear this womans voice come on channel 19 saying something along the lines of "channel 16 for the body shop". I swear that must be the strongest signal in America, she comes in at S9. At first I thought maybe a local shop was using that channel, so I went to 16, and she starts telling about who is dancing tonight. A quick google search later and I realize that it is a strip club in Pennsylvania. I only figured that out because she gave directions off I-80. I just wondered if I am the only one who hears this.

I've heard it too. Also heard truck wash and CB shop in California. And some cat house in Nevada where the woman says things like no obligation, just a cup of coffee if you want. Interesting stuff sometimes lol

I wonder how much power theyre running. They must be making some serious profits to have that kind of equipment. Even this far away the signal is crystal clear.

I-80 also goes through Nevada where you hear things like "Free Coffee, Free Showers, Free Conversation, no Obligation" lol yeah it sounds like a dance club, where ever it is.

"The CB Store is located right next to the A-1 Truck Wash in Fontana, California, on Valley Blvd, one half mile east of Cherry Avenue." lol That's a couple of cool dudes. Traveling Salesman used to own a very large CB shop in Salt Lake City in the 70's. Gladiator was really good, but he retired :( and I forgot the other guys handle, everyone just calls him Paul. Paul installs, T.S. drinks coffee and sells stuff. Of course, they all fix and tune radios.

Traveling Salesman is funny, he reads the morning paper, not only breaking stuff, but silly things from the back pages. He also gives current traffic like if there is an accident, he will tell truckers how to get around it.

On Channel 17 in NJ I was hearing "the tire shop" for the last couple of years & now I'm hearing "the CB shop". They drift in and out so I've never been able to tell where they are from.

I've never heard it, but it doesn't surprise me. When skip rolls, anything can be heard, and if you happen to have a good antenna on a tower and maybe a little bit of power, you can be heard sometimes.

When I used to live in Missouri, I once heard Dubs CB shop on channel 8. Dubs is on the border of Illinois/Indiana along I-70.

I have heard of a story of someplace in the south, of some woman advertising "nanner nanner pudd'n" over the CB. I believe she may own and/or operate a restaurant.
