I'm trying to keep track of some ski operation frequencies in the Outaouais/Ottawa Valley.

Camp Fortune used to be on 159.975 repeater which for years had voice-inversion
scrambling (for whatever reason), then it was in the clear the last year or two; but I
have not heard it this year. A check of TAFL shows pending assignment for a repeater
on 141.240, the same low power (~4W), but have not heard it yet. They're assigned 159.585
simplex, but needs to be confirmed.

Mount Pakenham used to be using the Glentel TimeTrac UHF MPT-1327 system, which
was taken off the air, and have not heard them since. A guess is the went to TRBO at that
site. but probably also use simplex.

TAFL shows a low-power repeater at Mont Ste-Marie on 152.225 (CTCSS 100.0Hz). I can hear
this but it's weak, and hard to make out the content so far; so may or may not be related
to ski activities.

Hi Dave,

I am listening to 152.255 now and have heard some activity that sounds like a ski hill.
The tone I see is 114.8

Mike

Added: I just heard more activity and this time the tone is 100hz. (about 1447hrs)

Mike, I think you mean 152.225. Repeater here is noisy but managed to make out
some french/english content, which indeed sounds like ski operations. I picked out 100Hz
CTCSS but not the other.

OK, so here we are, >200 views, nearly two weeks, and only one response, from Mike.

Are there any downhill skiers who also do scanning, who are willing to check out some of
these hills?

For Camp Fortune I've heard some simplex activity on 159.585, but nothing on 159.975
or 141.240.

There are some generic allocations for ski patrol in the 173MHz range e.g. 173.640 but
I don't recall hearing anything.

How about Mt. Tremblant.....?

Ski Mont-Tremblant using for several years, a LTR trunking system with 30 talk groups.

Is this the Radio Onde 03 850MHz LTR system listed in the Database? What I am looking for
is Ski Patrol, ski school, and grooming operations. I don't see those TGs listed though they
might be in the group at the end; does anyone know for sure?

Radio Onde 03 Trunking System, Mont-Tremblant, Quebec - Scanner Frequencies

Mont Tremblant has a bunch of TAFL listings including resort operations.
I see ski club listing for several VHF/UHF simplex channels. I am >100km from
Mt. Tremblant but have heard some activity from there, however very unlikely to hear
low-power simplex. That's why I am asking about what has actually been heard.

Search CLUB DE SKI ALPIN DU MONT-TREMBLANT :

151.055, 151.085, 151.115, 458.6625, 459.1000, 469.2625

You would expect ski patrol to be on VHF if possible to (at least in theory) access
the common VHF channel (173.640) or others. Mount Pakenham was one exception,
on UHF MPT-1327 until recently.

I don't do downhill and not visiting any of these sites regularly, but still interested
in what can be heard.

This still leaves a bunch of unknowns in the Ottawa Valley and Outaouais, such as
Mt. Cascades.

Mount Tremblent

Dave,

I can hear the weather channel on 162.475 quite well from MT.

There was an amateur repeater from MT that came in quite well also.

Although it is not registered on RR, the Mont-Tremblant LTR system also includes operations, ski patrol, emergency, safety and the ski club.

outdoor rescue activities

On this LTR frequency 861.9375, there seems to be some comms that have to do with outdoor rescue activities.

Good find Mike...."Rescue" is not ski-related but the control station for Rideau Canal
skate patrol. It's like the good old days when they were on the Glentel LTR system.
They now seem to be on two systems; the Comm Sergau XLR923 you show and one for
"NCC radios" which is UHF DMR (details not known).

Dave

Strange: in TAFL, HR=09 and 15 frequencies are not shown but obviously still part of the system.

I too can hear 162.475 from MT quite well, but no surprise given that TAFL shows
275W (24.4dBW) transmit ERP, plus extreme height. Dedicated ski hill repeaters are
generally low power, 5W or less. Surprised I pick up Mt.Ste-Marie as well as I do (weak).

I don't usually listen to what is left of LTR.
I was just taking a look at 850 with SDR and saw some audio so had a listen and they were helping someone with an injury.

I would be fun to go down to the canal with close call some evening.

Has anyone heard Camp Fortune on 141.240 or other frequency?

Also, Vorlage is listed in TAFL as 173.640 and 173.760 simplex; can
anyone confirm?

Sometimes as with Fortune, licences can show up under a
numbered company, not necessarily the name of the resort.

One of the skate patrollers made reference to the "NCC radio" in addition
to the LTR radio he was talking on. I believe NCC, operations, and volunteers
including Lost Children, are using UHF DMR. I'm not too far from the Canal
but not in "Close Call" range and with the deep freeze have not been down
there lately, but Winterlude is still on and still time to discover things...

Dave,

If you are close to the canal, try listening on the DMR inputs:
455 to 460, and 465 to 470, for strong pulsing DMR input signals.
Then check the corresponding output -5MHZ.

The best thing for this is SDR#, works great.
I do this all the time except out where I am there are no real strong input signals.
If you find any strong input signals, let me know and I will monitor the output.

Mike

ADDED: Let me know what DMR outputs are strong at your location and I will keep and eye on the CC

The input ranges would be 456-460, 465-469, and 427-430. I tried saturday but there
was a lot of stuff, much probably related to snow clearing. Sunday was busy moving
snow/ice of my own, so nothing conclusive.
