I notice there is a repeater set up on GMRS 6 that comes in strongly in my area (southwest CT). No one ever seems to use it, and it periodically IDs. Any idea whose it is?
Copy the ID and look it up in the FCC online database. If it ID's in Morse code then copy the dots and dashes and lookup a Morse code chart then lookup the call.
FYI nobody "owns" a frequency their are licensed to use a frequency by the FCC.
i show channel 6 is freq 462.6750. there are three in CT. Enfield, Putnam, Woodstock. I dont know which one you want. I clicked on owner of all three and they all had contact info. You might have to register at this site first to get info.
p.s. I found from a post you did earlier you are in SW CT. maybe its one in NY Also. I saw one in Manhattan and There was one on LI so maybe one of these?
Thanks for the info. I'll follow the link provided and see which repeater ID matches which listing. I live just south of Waterbury, so NY and LI are too far to copy under normal UHF conditions without a really good yagi.

How true, not everyone wants to Advertise, come onto my repeater.
It's sad enough people do anyway, calling for the owner and asking permission over the air.
