In zip code mode is there any way to see the freq when it stops on a transmission?

For what type of system?

You can change the display mode by using FUNC-9 when holding on a channel.

You can show the frequency for a conventional channel using the func-9 changes in display. For trunking systems, I don't believe there is currently anyway to display the frequencies, only the TGIDs and unit IDs. Interestingly, if you use third-party software like ProScan or ARC536PRO, you will see the frequencies displayed for the control channel, then the voice channel when active, on trunking systems.
This obviously means that the 436HP/536HP have the frequency info for trunk systems, but currently do not display the trunk site frequencies. This is something that many of us have been asking for as a firmware update, but have not yet seen it. Hopefully, it will be coming.
Regardless of zip code mode or using favorite lists, the conventional channels will show the frequencies if you use func-9 to toggle the 5-line display. The trunking site frequencies are not currenly displayed either with zip code or favorite lists. This is one advantage of the older x96XTs or Whistler 1080.

There is no such thing as "zip code mode" for the x36 scanners. The scanner always scans with its location in mind. It doesn't matter whether you set the location via ZIP code, manually enter GPS coordinates, or plug in an external GPS. The scanner behaves identically regardless of where its GPS coordinates came from. The only difference on the display is that "GPS" is displayed when the scanner is receiving location data from an external GPS device.

I think he just means that he used the zip code entry to program the scanner.

But, I thought that one of the display modes did show the frequency for trunking systems. (not while there is an active TG being received, but when scanning).
