How heavily used is this system in the area. From what I read in the DB and other older posts not quite sure. Also some areas could be on PALMETTO 800 for PD, but yet UHF for fire or visa versa.

Heavy use of Pal800 in the upstate. PD's, Sheriff, Federal, Fire, etc. Still lots of VHF/UHF for all services. Anderson all P25, Laurens 99% Digital, Spartanburg Sheriff 100% 800. Big mix in every County. Without Digital scanner you would have to settle for 1/2 of whats to hear. There is a local CD that has extra detail thats not in the DB. [ larryscan@charter.net ] Good Luck. There isn't too much encryption in the Upstate at this time. Greenville County Sheriff's use of Palmetto 800 (which is not primary operations, which are on UHF analog) are sometimes encrypted. Some of the state (like SLED) and Federal agencies' traffic is encrypted.

Most primary dispatch and operational channels are in the clear.
