Pro-2020 Help?

I recently was given a Realistic Pro-2020. I have turned the radio on and i get sound when buttons are pushed. I cant pickup any channels or hear the static noise when the squelch is turned all the way down. I don't know anything about these radios. Any help would be appreciated. Someone said that the scanner may not be from United States. How do you tell? I have the serial number. Thanks.

Honestly .. they are worth about $3 and that is high and they are just not worth fixing. If it does not work .. move on.

That model is so basic .. you can tell in about 30 sec if it works or not. Just program in a frequency, it will either work or not. It is very likely just plain dead. I have a Pro 2004 with much the same issues .. it will turn on and appears to work .. but will not receive a thing.

They are from the US (at least they came from Radio Shack in those days .. a US company) .. and was one of my first programmable scanners. But in those days .. that was a big thing.
