Anyone in the S.F. Bay notice this strange thing happening on Marin CHP's Violet channel lately? The mobile repeat function seems to be on but not fully working...Details follow.

A unit will key up and usually since the dispatchers have mobile repeat on, you will hear the field unit. Lately though all you hear is the first syllable or word and the radio goes quiet yet they are still transmitting. On the flip side though some units DO COME THROUGH just fine at times.

Has there been a major change in field unit radios or something on the mountaintop/dispatcher console? All other Golden Gate area frequencies work normally though.

Regards,

-Frank C.

Thanks mlangeveld! For myself and another ham, we hear the first syllable or two and then nothing, as I described...We both have experienced this at the home QTH's and mobile in Marin area only. Both of us use scanners and commercial gear.

Fresno Area Office just turned on repeat on the Silver, but they only turned on the repeater on one of three of the Silver sites. It can get confusing. Depending on what transmitter is voted you might get the repeater, you might not.

Thanks Car5le. That sounds like what might be happening here which is weird as that's never been the case in the Golden Gate region as long as I can remember, let alone in the Marin area!
