• To anyone looking to acquire commercial radio programming software:

Please do not make requests for copies of radio programming software which is sold (or was sold) by the manufacturer for any monetary value. All requests will be deleted and a forum infraction issued. Making a request such as this is attempting to engage in software piracy and this forum cannot be involved or associated with this activity. The same goes for any private transaction via Private Message. Even if you attempt to engage in this activity in PM's we will still enforce the forum rules. Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

This is a large and very visible forum. We cannot jeopardize the ability to provide the RadioReference services by allowing this activity to occur. Please respect this.

Ok so i'm new to the confusing Astro CPS layout, I am use to Harris RPM. I acquired an XTS5000 MIII 7/800mhz Flashcode 589088-101683-7

I am trying to enter P25 trunking information in the CPS but everything is grayed out or it wont let me change the info.

What am I doing wrong is there a setting I may have missed? I have attached Screenshots.

Radio Info
Host R20.00.10
DSP R19.50.00
Flashcode 589088-101683-7

I don't trying to program receive only to see if i can get better reception then the old scanner. I ahve had no problems with the Harris radios in receive only mode, transmit disabled.

An XTS5000 will instantly affiliate if you manage to program it with the system information, there is no way to disable it. Instant affiliate = instant disable by system controller on most systems if your ID is invalid.

There are methods around this but this is NOT for a novice programmer. Get help. LOTS of help, someone who has succesfully done this in the past. Posession of an unauthorized system key, BTW, if you manage to acquire one, is generally treated quite harshly by law enforcement and is a crime under the DMCA.

Good luck.

Man this is some crap, I just want to monitor some talkgroups and I can't even do that. If someone could make a scanner that worked half decent without missing every other transmission I would buy one.

Harris radios do not require system keys to do what you want to do. Motorola's do. The greyed area means you can't do anything there w/o the key. However, should you manage to get the key for a 5000, & the system manager "stings" it, the radio will be a "brick" and then an expensive paper weight. Some older radios can be set to affiliate on ptt only, and then you disable ptt, but on the 5000, it must auto affiliate, & then the system boss will see this & "sting" your radio, rendering it useless.
