Need some help understanding offset direction and where to get information.

Problem - IN SAR we had two different people program channels for different radios, An example would be - lets say channel 11 - everything is the same between two two files - except in one it lists Offset direction as "+" and in the other it is "-".
In the Radio Reference data - it does not list the offset direction.

So I am concerned that there may be connectivity issues with the different radios - with different offset directions.

Is there a reference where it would include the additional details for the repeater?

Offset determines if the transmit frequency is above (+) or below (-) the receiver frequency and by how many hertz. Your radio displays the receive frequency and when you transmit it either transmits above or below the receive frequency by a specific amount. In ham radio the offset is usually 600 Khz for VHF and 5 MHz for UHF. This is used ONLY for repeaters. If you are talking radio to radio (no repeater involved) then there is NO offset because you talk and receive on the same frequency. If you are using commercial radios the VHF offset can be anything (check your FCC license for the correct offset). The UHF offset is usually 5 Mhz. The offset and amount must match what the repeater is using for transmit and receive and the amount of difference between the two (offset).

There is an option in the DB to show the input frequencies. It's typically just above the start of the frequency table(s).

It would help if you could tell us what service and frequencies you're looking for the offset to. Amateur? Business? GMRS? Public Safety? VHF Low? VHF High? UHF? 700 MHz? 800 MHz? 900 MHz?
