The President will be visiting the Montgomery/Selma area on Saturday. Does anyone know of any special frequencies to monitor? Does Air Force One use any special frequencies?

Cheers--Steve

Funny you should ask. I don't have the answer though but I just watched a documentary about Air Force One, when G.W. Bush was President.

One of the things mentioned that caught my ear was that the airplane has 50-something antenna's installed on the aircraft. I think it was either 51 or 57, but I'm not sure.

Also, and I didn't know this, there are 2 Air Force One airplanes flying when the President is in the air and on the primary plane.
I know that it's called Air Force One once the President is on board but I don't know what the back-up plane is called when the President is on board the primary airplane.

So for those of you listening when it gets nearby, you might hear chatter between the two airplanes when they get close enough.

The other planes will be identified as SAM and their tail number. (IIRC, the 707-based Air Force One was SAM 26000.)
