For the past two days, I have been receiving a stuck transmitter on 155.220 MHz in the Ann Arbor area. Is anyone else receiving this signal? I want to make sure this isn't a birdie or image problem with my radio.

155.22

In Ypsi township, it is full strength on my FT-90R. A quick Google shows license to Pioneer HS.

Sounds like a stuck mic on a scanner. Using a service monitor it sounds like Mototrbo.

Received complaints from Airport Schools in Carleton.

I noticed that the transmitter is encoding a PL tone of 91.5 Hz. This could be the old Van Buren, or Ypsilanti Public Schools base transmitter. I have it full scale at S9+10 right now.

I'd lean towards Ypsilanti more than VanBuren. I know VanBuren has gone full on UHF Mototrbo for both maintenance and transportation. Whether someone has gotten a hold of some old equipment is different situation. Ypsilanti at least still has an active license on 155.22 but I'm unfamiliar with their operations.

Try turning on the attenuator for that channel to either stop hearing it or find if you still have a strong signal you can more easily tie to your area.

Got It! (I think)

Location 800 Railroad St., Ypsilanti, MI

Faded sign on building says Service Center Ypsilanti Public Schools

Tower out back with VHF base antenna on it. I took bearings from three different locations nearby, with an offset attenuator and tape-measure Yagi, and all readings pointed to the tower. When parked in the drive leading to the locked yard containing the tower, the signal pegs the S-meter on my VHF mobile in the truck, using a vertical antenna mounted on the bed.

Please see attached photos. GPS location information is embedded to aid in locating.

A friend has made contact with the school reps. Has anyone heard the transmitter on the air, in the past few days?

I'm going to add my 'thumbs up' to this photograph, too. I really like shooting photos of old buildings and this one is really well framed, lighting is good, angle is great. Very nice job.

I know this is off topic, but I can't help 'praising' a good photograph (and photographer). :)

Nice job of 'fox hunting' too.

From a photography standpoint, that second picture is a great picture.
